Web Design and Development

The part everyone sees — built to move a number.

A complete, disciplined digital presence: a brand that holds up, a site that's easy to find, and an experience your buyers genuinely want to use — built so your marketing team can run it without calling us every week.

01What's included

Six things included. Nothing you don't need.

Scoped to your business and delivered by the same senior team, on one contract, with a single person accountable for the outcome.

Start a project
01
Website strategy and architecture

How a buyer travels from a search to a signed order, mapped before anything is designed. Sitemap, content model and search strategy.

02
Brand and identity

Positioning, identity and messaging strong enough to withstand scrutiny, growth and whoever you're pitching next.

03
UX/UI design and design systems

Design systems instead of one-off page comps, so the site stays coherent as it grows and your team can extend it.

04
WordPress, Shopify and custom builds

The right platform for the job, with an editing experience your team will actually use.

05
Accessibility and performance

WCAG 2.2 AA and performance budgets enforced right through launch — not measured once and forgotten.

06
SEO and GEO-ready build

Structured data, clean markup and the technical foundations that make a site findable by search engines and citable by assistants.

02 / How it works

Four steps, in the same order every time — for a reason.

The sequence matters. Every expensive mistake we’ve seen in web and digital started with skipping step one.

01

Listen

Stakeholders, the sales team, analytics forensics. Working out what the site has to change is most of the job.

02

Architect

Sitemap, content model, search strategy and visual direction all settled before design begins.

03

Design and build as one thread

Design system first, pages second, engineering in the room throughout — so nothing is lost in a handoff.

04

Launch and tune

Performance budgets enforced at launch, and the first ninety days measured against pipeline rather than page views.

A clean-sheet hybrid-electric aircraft given a launch platform that publishes real range, interior and payload data — the kind of evaluable material that puts a programme on an RFQ shortlist.

How a build runs

What actually happens between the kick-off and the launch.

Most agencies describe this as a tidy five-step process. It is closer to seven, two of them are unglamorous, and the unglamorous ones are where projects are won or lost.

01

Finding out how you actually sell

Before anything is drawn we need to know who buys, what they need to believe first, and what currently stops them. Usually that means talking to your sales team rather than only your marketing team — sales knows the objections, and the objections are what the site has to answer.

02

Structure before surface

The information architecture decides whether somebody finds the thing they came for. It is also what decides whether the site can rank, because search engines reward a real page per real intent. We settle this before design, because reorganising a site after it is designed is expensive and after it is built is worse.

03

A design system, not a set of pages

Components, type scale, spacing, states, and rules for how they combine. It costs a little more up front and it is the reason the site still looks deliberate two years later, when your team has added forty pages we never saw.

04

Content, honestly handled

The single most common reason projects stall. We will write it, edit what you have, or work to your team's drafts — but we agree which of those it is at the start, with a date, because "content to follow" is how a six-week build becomes a six-month one.

05

Building it so your team can use it

Editable where you need to edit, locked where editing would break the design. A page builder that allows anything produces a site that degrades within a year; a build that allows nothing produces a support ticket every time you hire someone.

06

Accessibility and performance as you go

Contrast, focus states, keyboard paths, alt text, heading order — checked during the build, not audited after it. Same with performance: image handling, asset delivery and caching decided early, because retrofitting speed is largely rebuilding.

07

Launch, including the parts nobody enjoys

Redirects mapped from the old URLs, analytics and goals carried across, forms tested end to end, DNS moved in a window that suits your business. This is the phase where sites lose the rankings they had, and it is entirely preventable.

08

Analytics set up to answer a question

Installed to answer specific questions — which pages produce enquiries, where people abandon, which sources send buyers rather than browsers. A default install that records everything and answers nothing is the usual state of affairs, and it is why so many teams cannot say whether their site works.

09

A handover your team can actually use

A walkthrough recorded for the people who join later, notes on the decisions that are not obvious from looking, and a named person to call. Most sites degrade because the knowledge left, not because the build was wrong.

Questions about web design and development.

How long does a website take?

A focused marketing site is usually eight to twelve weeks. Larger builds with a product catalog, a portal or real integration work run longer, and we phase those so something useful goes live before the whole thing is finished. The honest variable is not our capacity — it is content and feedback turnaround on your side, which is why we agree both at the start.

What does it cost?

It depends on scope in ways that make a single number useless, so we scope in phases with a budget against each and you approve them one at a time. What we can say plainly: we are not the cheapest option and we do not try to be, because the work we are hired for is the work that goes wrong when it is done cheaply.

Do you write the copy?

We can, and on B2B and industrial projects we usually should — the specificity that makes these pages work is hard to get from a template or a general copywriter. If you have a strong internal writer we will work to their drafts instead. What does not work is leaving it undecided.

WordPress, Shopify, or something else?

WordPress for most B2B and industrial sites, Shopify where there is genuine transactional commerce, and something more custom where the site is really an application. We pick after we understand the job. An agency that recommends the same platform every time is describing its own capabilities, not your requirement.

Do we need a full rebuild, or can the current site be improved?

Sometimes improvement is the right answer and we will say so — it is a smaller engagement and we would rather have the relationship. The rebuild case is usually structural: the information architecture is wrong, the platform fights every change, or the design has no system so every new page drifts further.

What happens to our search rankings?

They are protected deliberately, not hoped for. Every old URL is mapped to its new equivalent before launch, the redirects are verified in a single hop, and the structure is designed so the pages that already rank keep a home. A migration without a redirect map is the fastest way to lose traffic you have paid years to build.

Can you work inside our brand guidelines or a parent company's system?

Yes, and it is common. A corporate brand system, a parent company's asset library, an approvals process, a specific hosting posture — these are ordinary constraints and we would rather plan around them from the start than discover them at design review.
