Wixom Website Design and Development

A city that turned an assembly plant into an industrial park, and filled it.

Wixom lost Ford's assembly plant in 2007 and spent the next fifteen years turning the site into something else. The industrial space built on it is fully leased, with land still remaining. That history shapes the business population here: light industrial, distribution and manufacturing operations that arrived recently and are still establishing who they are.

Start a project What is here

What is actually here.

Verified before publishing, with sources named and years attached to any figure that moves. A stale number on a local page is worse than no number, because the people most likely to notice are the local buyers it was written for.

01

The former Ford Wixom Assembly site

Ford's Wixom Assembly plant sat on a 317-acre site and closed in mid-2007. Demolition began in 2012 after Ford received state tax credits to clear roughly a million square feet of plant.

02

Redeveloped, and actually leased

The brownfield redevelopment that followed produced roughly 1.4 million square feet of light industrial space, fully leased since 2021, with around 70 acres remaining and capacity for a further 500,000 to 800,000 square feet.

03

A recently arrived business population

Because the industrial base here was largely rebuilt rather than inherited, a lot of the operations are newer tenants still establishing local presence. That is an opportunity: in a market where everyone is relatively new, being findable and credible early is worth disproportionately more.

04

On I-96

The site's value, then and now, is the freeway. I-96 connects Wixom directly toward Lansing one way and Detroit the other, which is why light industrial and distribution tenants took the space rather than office users.

05

A city, cleanly incorporated

Wixom is a single incorporated city with no township twin, which removes the address ambiguity that quietly damages local rankings elsewhere in the region.

06

Light industrial buys differently

A tenant in a leased industrial building is usually selling capability and capacity rather than a branded product. Their buyers want to know what the operation can actually do, at what volume, to what standard — which is a website problem rather than a marketing one.

07

Adjacent to the Novi head offices

Wixom sits a short drive from the corporate concentration in Novi, which means a supplier here may well have its customer's procurement team fifteen minutes away. That proximity is worth making explicit rather than assuming it is known.

Who we build for in Wixom.

Mostly businesses that make, move or service something, in buildings that did not exist twenty years ago.

Light industrial and manufacturing

Operations selling capability and capacity, found by process and specification rather than by name.

Logistics and distribution

Warehousing and fulfilment chosen on coverage, capacity and reliability, with the freeway as the reason to be here.

Automotive suppliers

Shops and processors supplying into programs run from head offices a short drive away.

Contractors and industrial services

Facilities, mechanical and maintenance contractors serving the industrial park and the residential base around it.

Professional and B2B services

Firms serving the industrial tenants, where a site has to survive a procurement read.

Technology and engineering services

Testing, prototyping and software businesses selling to technical buyers.

What being nearby changes.

For facility-based businesses the useful part is simple: we can see the facility.

01

We can photograph the operation

A floor, a line, a fleet, a process. Capacity is much easier to believe when it is shown rather than asserted.

02

We can sit with operations, not only marketing

The people running the floor know what customers ask before they commit. That belongs on the site.

03

Launch day has someone reachable

Same time zone, half an hour away, and a phone that gets answered.

04

You can come and look

Our office is real and you are welcome in it. Worth doing before hiring any agency.

What we do for businesses here.

Built around making capability legible, quickly.

Start a project
01
Capability and capacity stated plainly

Equipment, envelope, tolerance, shift patterns and volume bands. Specific enough to be qualified against rather than admired.

02
Quoting paths that take a print

Upload, a stated confidentiality position, and routing to the person who actually quotes that process.

03
A page per process, not one services page

The structure that makes you findable for the searches buyers actually run.

04
ERP and CRM integration

Price, stock and lead time from the system of record, synced and alarmed rather than retyped.

05
Local and technical search together

The map pack for nearby work, and process-specific pages for buyers searching by capability and region.

06
Hosting, care plans and support

Monitored, backed up, updated and checked, with a senior first reply in four business hours.

Questions from Wixom businesses.

We moved here recently. Does that hurt us in local search?

Only if your details are inconsistent. What actually matters is that your address, business name and phone number agree everywhere they appear, that your Google Business Profile is properly built, and that reviews keep arriving. Longevity helps but it is not the gate people assume.

We lease a unit in an industrial park. How should the site handle location?

Straightforwardly, with the real address. Where the unit number matters for deliveries, say so. Where customers never visit, the address still needs to be consistent for local search even if it is not a selling point.

Our customers are national. Is a Wixom page useful?

This page is for people searching locally. National buyers will arrive through the industry and capability pages, which is where the capability argument lives. Both matter and they do different jobs — the mistake is making one page try to do both.

How do we show capacity without overstating it?

With specifics you can stand behind — square footage, equipment, counts, shift patterns, coverage — rather than adjectives. Numbers are qualifiable; superlatives are discounted automatically by the kind of buyer you want.

Can you connect to our ERP or MRP?

Usually. If it has a database, an API or a reliable export, we can work with it. The honest constraint is more often data quality than connectivity — a clean integration on messy part data still produces a site that misleads people.

Do we need ecommerce?

Most industrial businesses here need a catalog and a strong quoting path rather than a checkout. Transactional commerce earns its place when you have consumable or standard-part revenue that is genuinely self-service.

What does a project cost?

Scoped in phases with a budget against each, approved one at a time. We are not the cheapest option and do not compete on that basis.

How long does it take?

A focused site is eight to twelve weeks. Catalog and integration work runs longer and is phased so something useful goes live before the whole thing finishes.

Can you fix our existing site rather than rebuild it?

Often, and sometimes that is the honest answer — a smaller engagement, and we would rather have the relationship. The rebuild case is usually structural: the architecture is wrong, the platform fights every change, or there is no design system so every new page drifts further.

Do you sign NDAs?

Routinely, and we expect to on industrial work. If your contracts or customers constrain what can be shown publicly, raise it at the start — it changes what the proof sections can say and we would rather design around it than walk it back.

Who owns the site and the code?

You do. Your hosting, your domain, your licences, your content, full administrator access throughout. Nothing about the arrangement depends on you being unable to leave.

Do you handle recruitment pages?

Yes, and for operations businesses they often carry more commercial weight than the sales pages. Real roles, real shift patterns, real locations, and an application path that works on a phone during a break.

How quickly do you respond?

Four business hours for a first reply, from somebody senior. Genuine emergencies are handled as emergencies.

Do you offer hosting and maintenance?

Yes. Updates applied and checked, nightly off-server backups, monitoring, malware scanning and a monthly report in plain language.

Who will be doing our work?

The people you meet. We are small and senior by design — the person who scopes it builds it and answers the email eighteen months later.

How do we get started?

Tell us what is not working in a sentence or two. You will hear back within four business hours from the person who read it, and the first conversation is thirty minutes with no deck.

We share a building with other tenants. Does that hurt local search?

Not inherently, but it makes consistency more important. Use your real suite or unit number everywhere, keep it identical across your site, your Google Business Profile and every directory, and do not invent a cleaner-looking address. Shared-building addresses are normal in industrial parks and search engines cope with them fine when the data agrees with itself.

How do we show we are established when the building is new?

By separating the two. The building is recent; your company may not be. Say how long you have operated, what you have delivered and for whom, and treat the facility as evidence of investment rather than of age. A new plant is a credential in an industrial corridor, not an apology.

Our product is made to order. How does a website help?

By doing the qualifying before the call. Publishing your process capability, envelope, tolerance range, materials and typical volumes means the enquiries you get are from people who already know you can do the work. That raises quote quality and cuts the time estimators spend on jobs that were never viable.

Do you build sites that take drawing uploads?

Yes, and for a made-to-order business it is usually the highest-value feature on the site. Large files, a link that does not expire the moment it reaches a purchasing inbox, a stated confidentiality position before the upload rather than after, and routing to whoever actually quotes that process.

We have almost no marketing team. Is that a problem?

No, and it shapes the build. A site that needs a marketing department to stay current will be out of date within a year. We build so the things that change often are easy to change, and the things that would break the design are locked.

How long does a build like ours usually take?

For a mid-sized manufacturer with a defined capability set, eight to twelve weeks from kickoff to launch is typical, and the variable is almost never us. It is how quickly we can get facility photography, current certification documents, and thirty minutes each with the people who actually quote and run the jobs. Projects that stall, stall there. We front-load those requests in week one so the content work and the build run in parallel rather than end to end.

What happens after launch?

Someone stays responsible for it, which is the part most agencies skip. Hosting, updates, backups, uptime monitoring and security patching run on a care plan, and we check in on a set cadence rather than waiting for something to break. A manufacturing site that goes eighteen months without a plugin update is not a stable site, it is one that has not been attacked yet. The plans also cover the small edits — a new machine, a renewed certificate, a changed phone number — so those actually get made.
