What we collect
When you send us an enquiry
Our forms ask for the details needed to reply: your name and email address, and depending on the form your phone number, company website, budget range and a description of what you need. You choose what to put in them.
Context recorded with an enquiry
When — and only when — you submit a form, we attach a record of how you reached us. We do this so that a salesperson can pick up the conversation with some context, and so we can tell which of our own marketing is worth continuing. That record contains:
- your IP address, and the approximate city, region and country it resolves to
- the pages you viewed on this site during your visit, and roughly how long you spent on each
- how you arrived — a search engine, a link from another site, an advertising campaign, or directly
- whether you had visited this site before, and how many times
- your browser, screen size, language and time zone
This is not collected from visitors who never submit a form. If you read the site and leave, nothing about your visit is sent to us or stored on our servers.
Storage in your browser
To count visits and remember how you first found us, this site keeps two small records in your own browser’s local storage, named bwm_li and bwm_li_s. They stay on your device, are readable only by this site, and are sent to us only if you submit a form. Clearing your browser’s site data removes them.
We do not use advertising cookies, tracking pixels, or third-party analytics. There is no Google Analytics, no advertising network and no social media tracker on this site.
Our hosting provider’s security layer sets one cookie, __cf_bm, which distinguishes automated traffic from real visitors. It expires within about half an hour and we cannot read anything about you from it.
Server logs
Our host keeps standard server logs, including IP addresses, for security and troubleshooting. These are held on our behalf under our hosting agreement.
Why we are allowed to use it
We handle enquiry details to respond to you and, if it goes further, to carry out work for you. We handle the context described above under our legitimate interest in understanding where our business comes from and in protecting the site from abuse. Where the law requires consent instead, you can simply decline to submit the form — nothing is recorded until you do.
Who else sees it
We do not sell your data, and we do not share it for anyone else’s advertising. It is handled by:
- Kinsta, who host this website and store enquiries in its database
- ipapi.co, who receive an IP address in order to return an approximate location. They receive the IP address only; they are not told who you are or what you wrote.
- our email provider, which carries the notification of your enquiry to us
We may also disclose information if the law requires it.
How long we keep it
Enquiries and the context attached to them are kept for three years from your last contact with us, so that we can pick up a conversation that resumes later. After that they are deleted. If you ask us to delete them sooner, we will.
Your rights
You can ask us to tell you what we hold about you, correct it, delete it, or stop using it. Email hello@bluewindsmedia.com and we will respond within 30 days. There is no charge, and you do not need to give a reason to ask for deletion.
If you are in the EU or UK you may also complain to your data protection authority. If you are a California resident, we do not sell or share personal information as those terms are defined by the CCPA.
Children
This is a business-to-business website and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 16.
Changes
If we change this policy we will update the date at the top. Material changes will be described here rather than made quietly.
